London singer-songwriter Matz Patrick continues his rise with the release of 'augustine', arriving shortly after his first headline performance in Shoreditch drew a packed room of supporters.
The new single finds Patrick leaning further into his delicate blend of indie-folk and Americana, building a rich, textured arrangement around acoustic guitars, piano, pedal steel and subtle electronic flourishes. As the song unfolds, understated percussion and sweeping strings gradually widen its emotional landscape without disturbing its intimacy.
At the heart of 'augustine' sits the strange persistence of memory after a relationship ends, those moments when a person disappears from your life but remains present in the objects, spaces and routines they left behind. Rather than dwelling in heartbreak, Patrick approaches the feeling with tenderness, portraying absence as something comforting as much as painful.
Following the momentum of his debut EP 'Sweet Reminder' and growing support from radio and streaming platforms, 'augustine' marks another confident step forward for one of indie folk's emerging voices.
