John Goldrust reflects on a decade of musical exploration with debut album 'Like A Phoenix'

Oxford-based alternative-rock singer-songwriter John Goldrust has released his long-awaited debut studio album 'Like A Phoenix', bringing together material written and recorded over a ten-year period.
Following his 'Travellers In Timing' EP earlier this year, the album explores themes of love, loss, relationships and personal discovery through an eclectic mixture of rock, acoustic, electronic and Celtic influences.
Opening tracks ‘The One For Me’, ‘Down By The Riverside’ and ‘Like a Phoenix From A Fire’ introduce acoustic arrangements and melodic songwriting, while ‘Nightmare Attack’ incorporates electronic experimentation and ‘It’s Dawning On Mars’ embraces heavier guitar-driven rock.
The record also features studio and live versions of ‘Mystify The Light’, with the latter closing the album.
Recorded and produced at his own studio, the project documents his experiences as an independent musician pursuing a career in the industry.
