With her previous efforts finding themselves on the soundtracks for Love Island and Queer Eye in recent months, fast-rising singer and songwriter Kelly Rose returns once again with her vibrant new single 'Ignite'.
Bringing back more of that bold and dynamic alt-pop sound she is known for, 'Ignite' showcases some of her boldest and most effervescent ideas to date. With her sweet and passionate voice layered over a broad and adventurous production, she is certainly looking turn some heads with this one.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with her to find out more about her background and what has inspired her most over the years.

What was the first instrument you learned to play?
I first learned to play the piano. I tried learning how to play the guitar, but I found I connected more with the piano and it was easier for me to write songs on. I really love sitting down at the piano to play some chords and just free styling melodies and ideas. Most of my best songs start from scratch on the piano.
What was the first album you remember owning?
It was Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” album. I was obsessed with Britney’s music as a kid. I remember performing in front of my Barbie dolls and mirror singing her songs all of the time.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
I never formed a band, but I used to do recording artist showcases when I younger with a live band. I used to perform more pop rock music back then, like Ashlee Simpson and Demi Lovato type of songs. My pop rock phase only lasted for about 2 years though because ultimately my real passion was in pop music.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Levitating by Dua Lipa. The melodies are so catchy and the lyrics all tie in seamlessly with each other.
What has been the most thrilling moment about creating your own music?
The most thrilling moment is when people who I don’t know reach out to me saying how much they like my music. It’s always cool when your music speaks to someone you don’t know.
And what about the most frustrating part?
Definitely whenever writer’s block hits. I’m a perfectionist and want every lyric to be perfect so it’s frustrating when you know a lyric isn’t quite right but can’t figure out how to fix it.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
It’s a tie between Britney Spears and Beyonce.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Hopefully on tour performing in front of fans!
