Sunday Smoke - 'Complex'

Indie three-piece Sunday Smoke has released a new track, ‘Complex’, in which they bring together some high-energy, funky guitar riffs and some moments of atmospheric, love-drenched soundscapes. Their fourth single release since a 2025 debut, the band has grown their presence both on stage and in fans' listening rotation, accumulating thousands of streams.

‘Complex’ is once again brimming with nostalgic guitar influences through a modern indie lens. A driven rhythm section underpins an introspective narrative in the vocals, the lyrics examining the moment where a relationship is no longer platonic. A raw but clean production, and a sleek arrangement along the way, it strikes a mid-point between some of their more energetic and their steadier writing.

In their words, “This song is about when a close friend catches feelings, and the friendship fades. It’s about missing who they were, feeling guilty for not feeling the same, and realising you might be in the same situation with someone else…”

The trio continues to refine their sound and expand their reach. With more plans in the pipeline, the group are looking ahead.
