GET TO KNOW: Moose With A Scarf

After spending the past year churning out a wealth of bright and exciting delights, emerging producer Anthony Sabatino aka Moose With A Scarf is back on the grind once again with his explosive new single 'Back To You'.

Teaming up with vocalist Lauren Richards for the new release, 'Back To You' makes for an incredibly fun listen. Conjuring more of that bold and driven EDM aesthetic he is known for, he is certainly looking to get our fists pumping with this one.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

Back in 6th grade when I was learning to play guitar I got really into Green Day, and really enjoyed their stuff, but I think the band that I really fell in love with was My Chemical Romance. I remember being blown away by their heavy and intense aesthetic, while at the same time having super catchy and upbeat melodies. It was unlike anything I’d heard before and I couldn’t get enough of it. Black Parade was life changing for me.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I tried doing a few bands as I was growing up, mostly playing covers of Blink 182, Green Day, and some classic rock like Van Halen, but nothing ever really took off. I tried starting a band in high school to write original music but I always had issues with the other members practicing and remembering the music we went over. I did end up writing and producing a number of pop rock songs over the years. It was kinda a combination of pop punk, classic rock, and synth pop.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

My main inspiration for writing music is purely as a fan of music. When I’m working on a song, I’m usually putting something together that I would absolutely jam out to. The same goes for when I’m writing music for a film or video game project, as a fan of those mediums, I strive to compose something that would make the experience as exciting and powerful as possible.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

Call Me Maybe, hands down.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

Probably the first time I performed Synth Wars 2 live during undergrad at Berklee. It was my magnum opus of synthesizer shredding and I’d love to take the songs and chops I have now and really put them on display in that performance.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Probably Madeon, although he’s gone down more of the Nu Disco route these days, his electro house music really blew me away when I first heard it, and I love his live performance style with the integration of the lights and visuals. I’m all about creating a live experience when performing and I feel like performing with someone like Madeon could be an awesome and transformative experience.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Probably either BT or Au5. Both of those guys are absolute legends to me and I love their work, but they’re music tends to lack the flashy shredding synth solos that I love to throw down in my songs, so I believe it’d be a match made in heaven!

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Hopefully I’ll be doing more live performances. In addition to my electronic music I write a lot of music for smaller film, tv, and video game projects, so I’d love to be working on larger scale projects, such as a studio film, network show, or larger scale game. Either way I’m really enjoying the journey and just love putting music out there and growing my fanbase.
