For Danish rapper and producer Wohran, music has always been more than a hobby, it’s been a lifeline. From early car rides soundtracked by 50 Cent and Eminem to late-night sessions in a makeshift home studio, Wohran’s journey has been shaped by sound, survival, and self-discovery. Now, after years of personal struggle and artistic evolution, he steps into the spotlight with 'Alterity', a bold and introspective debut album that blends conscious rap with alternative hip-hop textures.
One of the project’s most striking moments comes in the form of ‘Clear’, a standout single born from a moment of unexpected emotional release. Written in the wake of a heavy day, the track began with a discarded guitar loop that wouldn’t leave him alone. The result is a haunting yet hopeful anthem about the beauty of turning a chapter and not mistaking the end of one story for the end of all.
So with the new release out now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most over the years.
What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
I believe that the first artist was Snoop when I was a kid. I was kinda quiet as a kid and wasn’t really interested in big and loud music. Snoop just had that chill laid back vibe over him, and I really gravitated towards that.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
When I was at a music camp/school like place, I made a band that was like acoustic hip hop. The inspiration was a Tiny Desk vibe and we did pretty good. Played a show that went fine, but the audience was these old people that were not rap fans clearly. It wasn’t really music for their generation, so it got a little weird. But overall a good experience aha.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
In general I’d say life. Most of my lyrics take inspiration from real events and such that I’ve had through my years. I wouldn’t say that everything I write is one to one real-life events, but more so my perspective stemming from my own experiences.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Good News by Mac Miller. I think it encapsulates a period of my life, and probably many others lives, in a way that is hard to explain. Lines like “so tired of being so tired” describes, so simply, such a complex mix of emotions, and just that feeling of like ‘this race just doesn’t end’. And I think that’s beautiful.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
I had a small outside concert a couple years ago with a couple homies. It was just a cool experience filled with love, good vibes and fun. The best experiences I have with music is the fun of creating and bringing people together. It’s easy to get lost in trying to figure out what the audience wants, and when I just have fun making stuff, without thinking about releasing and such, you get the best results.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
Dead, of course Mac. I'd love to perform with The Alchemist (especially when I don’t have to go to producer or DJ for shows). Also Smino and Action Bronson's shows look pretty cool, and I’d love to be a part of that.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
Well that’s kind of a hard question. I have a couple artists I would love to collaborate with in different functions. I’d love to work with The Alchemist or Madlib when it comes to producing. Other than that, Isaiah Rashad, Joey Bada$$ and Smino would be really cool, even though I have no idea what we would make.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In five years time I see myself living off of music. Not in a luxurious kinda way, cuz that’s never really been my goal. I just wanna spend as much time as possible making music. That’s my dream.
