After spending the last few years turning out a fresh and exciting array of releases, British-Nigerian rapper $tevoxcv is back on the grind once again to deliver his pulsing new single 'JUNGLE FEVER'.
Capturing more of that smooth and effervescent energy he has explored throughout his tenure to date, 'JUNGLE FEVER' makes for a rousing addition to his ever-growing catalogue. With such a firm and focused approach to his sound, he is certainly looking to turn some heads on this bouncing new gem.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.
What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
I bet this may sound cliche, but it has to be definitely Michael Jackson. I used to have Michael Jackson shoes as a child and anytime I wore them, I’d start bussing moves that year.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
I used to be in a group back in the day called C.C. It was formed in high school, and consisted of a producer, myself and two friends. I was the lead artist and if I recall vividly, I used to write both my verses and that of my friends. We were a hip-hop group.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
Personal experiences, experiences which happened to people I know and just raw imagination really.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Snow Globe by 88Glam.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
The first time I ever put out music officially in 2017. As an artist in my opinion, you keep chasing the adrenaline that comes with dropping music for the first time ever as you progress in your career. The industry innocence that comes with being a first timer is something I genuinely miss at times.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
There’s honestly bare I could call, but I’d say Burna Boy because he is the best stage performer of our generation in my opinion.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
Definitely J Cole and Drake.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Still making beautiful music which would be globally appreciated and stand the test of time.
