Built from melody fragments that haunted her in her childhood bedroom and finished in her LA home studio, 'VOODOO DOLL' captures the emotional whiplash of being mistreated, and the moment when grief turns into fury, then into reclamation. Known for her raw storytelling, genre-defying instincts, and queer-forward voice, Anna Thoresen continues to stake out new territory with each release, and 'VOODOO DOLL' might be her fiercest yet. So we sat down with her to discuss her origins and inspirations over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with? 

Honestly, One DIrection lol but as I got a bit older I really fell in love with Fleetwood Mac.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like? 

No, but it was always my dream! If I could, it would look like the band from Freaky Friday :)

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music? 

LIFE!

What is a song you wish you had written yourself? 

King of Pain by The Police

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be? 

I don't think I would ever relive anything, I like to keep myself in the present.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with? 

Stevie Nicks or Joan Jett :)))))))

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well? 

SO many to choose from, but a current artist I'd love to collaborate with is Chappel Roan, I think we'd make the coolest gayest song ever. 

Where do you see yourself in five years time? 

Everywhere.
