Having already made his mark with a flurry of impactful offerings lately, Swedish artist and producer RAMI SADAWI is back to his best once again with his progressive new single 'Flying'.

Lifted from his latest studio album 'NEVER HOME // MISS U', which is available to stream now, 'Flying' continues that broad and immersive aesthetic he has been growing lately. With its killer lyrical flow riding across a compelling production throughout, he is certainly looking to turn plenty of heads with this one.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

I’ve always been drawn to that classic ’90s boom bap sound. But a real turning point for me came with Isaiah Rashad’s "Cilvia Demo" in 2014. That album inspired me deeply in terms of both sound and production — it felt modern but still rooted in something real, something raw. It helped shape the way I wanted to evolve my own sound without losing the foundation I came from.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

Yes — it was called Bakom Skuggorna, which means “Behind the Shadows” in Swedish. We were making gritty, nostalgic boom bap, despite growing up in the 2010s. We were determined to show the world what “real” hip-hop meant to us. Looking back, it was a mix of stubborn youth and a small worldview, but it taught me a lot. Music isn’t just about beats or aesthetics — it’s about honesty.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

It’s always been about the process — an internal way to create peace of mind, to work through thoughts and emotions. Music became a method for understanding and expressing myself. That personal reflection always finds its way into the songs. But inspiration also comes from the external — everyday life, the music I listen to, conversations with friends and family, meeting new people, film, art etc. It's a constant dialogue between the inner and outer world.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

Tough question. There’s so much great music out there. But if I had to choose, I’d say Erykah Badu – “Didn’t Cha Know”. Everything about it — the beat, the voice, the mix, even the style — it’s just timeless. That song exists in its own universe. I would’ve loved to be a part of creating something like that.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

I believe I’ve had some special and important moments over the years. I try to stay present, appreciate the small wins and stay humble. But if I could relive something, it would be the small but powerful moments — like when you get that text saying a song is finished and ready for release. Or when something special happens in the studio, and you feel it — that this song is going to mean something. Those creative sparks are worth reliving every time.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Drake. I think we could make something really special together.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Drake again. For the same reasons — I think our sounds and perspectives could complement each other in a way that pushes both of us creatively.

Where do you see yourself in five years' time?

Still making music — but on a bigger scale and with a nice and sustainable setup. Working with more artist, musicians, producers - and releasing more projects. Synch is also something I want to do more of.

In bigger terms, keep working and continuing to evolve both personally and sonically. I want to stay grounded in what I do, but keep reaching outwards. Growth is the goal.
