GET TO KNOW: Omesi Abulu



After following up his much-loved 2023 EP 'GYRATION STATION' with his stunning comeback single 'MONAMI' last year, Boston-based Nigerian artist Omesi Abulu is back on the grind once again with his breezy new offering 'Let Me Go'.


Capturing a wonderfully smooth and alluring aesthetic for his newest outing, 'Let Me Go' makes for a wonderfully warm and inviting listen. With his captivating vocals spread across an alluring soul-inspired production throughout, he is certainly looking to pull on our heartstrings with this one.


So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to discuss his origins and influences over the years.



What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?


The first artist I ever fell in love with was Frank Ocean.


Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?


I never did but I was a singer in my elementary school choir.


What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?


The storytelling and emotion that I can invoke by creating what I do.


What is a song you wish you had written yourself?


White by Frank Ocean (The Odd Future One).


If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?


My first basement show that I did, I was so nervous but in the end, it was the best experience.


Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?


Frank Ocean, Daniel Ceasar, Sza, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, Katranada


And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?


I would love to work with some rappers like Tyler the Creator or Kendrick Lamar. It would also be a dream come true to work with Frank Ocean.


Where do you see yourself in five years time?


Living my dream of making music full-time, also performing at Coachella or gov ball.
