Blending sultry R&B, Afrobeats groove, and house-floor energy, UK rising star NeeCee and multi-platinum producer Jay Productions have joined forces for 'SUMMER HEAT', a vibrant, genre-bending single that radiates rhythm and emotional resonance. Marking NeeCee’s first English-language release, the track captures the high-octane joy of living in the now, set to a backdrop of lush percussion, sun-drenched hooks, and dance-ready production.

So with the new single out now, we caught up with NeeCee and Jay to talk about their creative chemistry, and the global sounds that inspire them.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

NeeCee: Gwen Stefani. She was bold, unique, and had this fierce femininity that really stood out to me. Whether it was with No Doubt or in her solo career, she always brought attitude and vulnerability together in a way that made me feel seen.

Jay: The first artist I truly fell in love with was Dr. Dre. The way he produced music, built

soundscapes, and elevated artists it made me obsessed with the idea of being behind

the scenes and shaping a sound that lasts.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound

like?

NeeCee: Not officially but in primary school me and my friends would practice a whole set routine in the playground based on whatever we saw on X factor. If we had formed a real band, we probably would’ve sounded like a chaotic mix of early 2000s R&B with random pop-rock influences thanks to whatever was trending at the time.

Jay: Yeah, back in the early days, I was in a group with a few close friends. We didn’t

have a name that stuck, but we blended hip-hop, grime, and R&B vibes. It was raw,

emotional, and heavily UK-influenced a proper homegrown sound.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

NeeCee: Lived experience. Especially the things I couldn’t say out loud in the moment- music gave me the space to express them. Love, loss, anger, healing- it’s all in there. I also draw from rhythm and language. Sometimes a phrase in Spanish will hit me emotionally in a way English just can’t, and that sparks something.

Jay: Life, really. The highs, the lows, pain, love, family especially my kids. Music’s

always been therapy for me, and I channel real emotions into every track I touch. It’s

all about honesty and connection.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

NeeCee: “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson. It’s such an emotionally driven song- the message, the arrangement, the way it builds - it’s powerful in every sense- the word masterpiece doesn’t do it justice. It goes beyond personal pain and speaks to something collective and human. That’s the kind of impact I hope my music can have.

Jay: “Ordinary People” by John Legend. The simplicity, soul, and timelessness of that

track it hits deep every time. That’s the kind of music that lives forever.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

NeeCee: Yes: the moments where I didn’t protect my boundaries early on. When you’re passionate, it’s easy to overextend or trust the wrong people. I wouldn’t relive that, but I’ve grown from it, and now I’m very intentional about who I let into my creative space.

Jay: Collaborating with Apache Indian, hands down. We made three tracks together that

did incredibly well, and it changed my life. Seeing our sound reach every corner of the world was surreal, working with The Game (USA Rapper). I’d relive that buzz

any day.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

NeeCee: Romeo Santos. The energy he brings to a live show, the connection he has with his audience, and the raw emotion in his performances: it would be an honour to share that kind of space with him.

Jay: Eminem, Drake, Dave, and Ed Sheeran all for different reasons. Eminem for the legacy and lyricism, Drake for the hits and global energy, Dave for the raw storytelling, and Ed Sheeran because he’s a genius at connecting with any crowd. Sharing the stage with any of them would be legendary.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

NeeCee: Either Tini, Bad Bunny, or Romeo Santos. All three have incredible energy on stage, huge emotional pull with their fans, and a deep connection to their roots - which is something I really value in performance.

Jay: Right now? I’d love to collaborate with Burna Boy. The way he fuses Afrobeat with

global influences would blend mad well with my production style. We’d create

something unique.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

NeeCee: Headlining my own international shows, with a bilingual catalogue that resonates across continents. I want to be known for my voice, my message, and the emotion I bring to every song- and to use my platform to elevate stories and sounds that deserve the spotlight.

Jay: Running my own label, developing a new wave of talent, and continuing to produce

chart-topping, genre-bending records. I want to be the guy people call when they want

to make a hit. Legacy over hype.
