After spending the last few years building their reputation for bold and blistering alt-rock anthems across their hometown of Manchester, emerging outfit Lake Of Snakes have now delivered their much-hyped new single 'Rough Love'.
Channelling a broad and cacophonous direction from start to finish, 'Rough Love' makes for a brilliantly intoxicating listen. Filled with ferocious hooks and soaring textures throughout, we are sure to be hearing a lot more from these guys very soon.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with them to find out more about their background and influences over the years.

What was the first instrument you learned to play?
Electric Guitar.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Load Metallica 1996.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
Our band were called Dark Hadou "Surge of Murderous Intent" it’s a dark energy force that consumes Ryu from Street Fighter, it's described as taking the spirit to kill the opponent to the extreme, and transforms it into a physical power. For the people who do succeed in harnessing it, they become extremely powerful, but at the cost of losing their humanity and compassion; they develop a cold, negative outlook on life, a nihilistic detachment from themselves, as well as other people, and develop an obsessive, dark, murderous, and even suicidal desire to fight.
Our band took influences from Slint, Trail of Dead, Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Shellac, Don Caballero, and Sweep The Leg Johnny.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
What has been the most thrilling moment about creating your own music?
I love the writing process, collaborating and jamming, ideas organically happen and you gain a deeper connection with each member playing, sometimes we are able to read each other and the music becomes something beyond ourselves.
You enter a flow state, you become fully immersed and focused in the process of the activity, you’re in a moment. That complete absorption in what you’re doing makes you lose track of time and become single minded, there’s something really liberating about it. It's an amazing feeling, but it's fleeting, so you chase it.
And what about the most frustrating part?
The Imposter Syndrome, second guessing yourself, the feelings of inadequacy when ideas don’t work out or come to fruition. Then there’s the compressions you make with all the amazing music out there and it can make things seem pretty daunting when you’re struggling to be creative.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
David Bowie.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
More clarity, more books, more self-content, more dependable, more well-travelled, more leather jackets, less vices, less headaches, less bitterness, less confusion, more love.
