GET TO KNOW: Joey Collins

With his eagerly-awaited new album 'Yin-Yang' dropping on the 24th March, emerging singer-songwriter Joey Collins is now looking to preview his forthcoming full-length with the rousing new single 'Time Becomes Our Only Saviour'.

With its wonderfully warm and effervescent textures layered throughout, 'Time Becomes Our Only Saviour' makes for a stellar return to form for the artist at the helm. Capturing the same broad and atmospheric aesthetic as Biffy Clyro, he is certainly looking to blow us away with this one.

So with the new track out now, we joined him for a chat to find out more about his background and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

The Red Hot Chill Peppers

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

Yes, probably awful looking back but that’s what it’s about when you start of!

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

Making sense of my mental health issues and life experiences through songs.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

Grace - Jeff Buckley

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

02 Academy Islington was extremely fun to play, especially as it was full! Would love to go back and perform there.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Tamino at the moment.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Ohh many spring to mind. I’d like to collaborate with James Veck-Gilodi from Deaf Havana.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Hopefully a couple more albums out and some bigger gigs under my belt. Would be great to tick off some big festivals in the UK and Europe too.
