After what has already been an incredibly productive 2023 with their recent singles 'Inci' and 'Tied Up', French trio Hermetic Delight continue to shine as they drop their wondrous new effort 'Lust For Life'.

Much like what we got to hear on their more recent material, 'Lust For Life' is another warm and woozy slice of dream-pop gold. Delivering another vibrant dose of sweeping tones and immersive aesthetics throughout, they are once again at the peak of their creative ambitions here.

So with 'Lust For Life' available to stream now, we joined them to find out more about their background and inspirations over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

Delphine : It was Marilyn Manson Atef : Michael Jackson ; when I was a child, my parents used to move a lot so I often got to make new friends; and those ones were all shouting “Beat It, Beat It” so I also did. It was a few months later than I realised where it was from because they were singing it out of tune. Zeynep : Roxette

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

Delphine : I started playing drums when I was 18 and the following year I met Atef, who was also taking up guitar. Those could be considered as the early days of Hermetic Delight. Zeynep: My first band was a punk band with lyrics in Turkish and we had been influenced a lot by Sonic Youth and The Pixies. What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

Delphine : I thought The Cure was simple in an original way. Zeynep: It was the teenage angst when I was younger for sure , like many of us. Atef : In fact, it was so random. I just wildly followed the flow of my mind and fingers.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

Delphine : The Intro from Warpaint's self-titled album Atef : The Man Who Sold The World. This ending, my goodness. Zeynep: Get into the groove by Madonna.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

Delphine : Shooting the Rockstarları video was fun enough to make me want to do it again. Atef : I’d say our very first tour in Turkey and every minute felt so special. Zeynep: A very first concert with every bandIi've ever had and the pure excitement of it is priceless

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Delphine : Slowdive, en live ils ont un truc sensible électrisant Atef : Exploded View / Anika. If you read me. Zeynep: Sharing the stage with Kim Gordon would be awesome.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Delphine : Warpaint ! Atef : This one is too easy. I can’t get enough of Cate Le Bon.

Zeynep: Same as Atef, to collaborate with Cate le Bon would be great.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Delphine : I can’t say, the present is my only reality.

Atef : Probably in a more hostile world. If I’m not worse myself, I’ll be happy

Zeynep: Nowadays I prefer to not think about the future and try to stay in the present tense to avoid anxiety.
