Following on from a flurry of bold and exciting releases throughout the last year, US alt-pop artist Helen is making her explosive return as she deliver the groove-filled new single 'Better Bitch'.

Filled with all the same fresh and pulsing textures she has showcased so far, 'Better Bitch' sees her unveil one of her most toe-tapping offerings to date. With its bouncing bassline, sultry tones, and her own glittering persona layered throughout, she is certainly making an impact with this one.

So with the new single out now, we sat down with her to find out more about her background and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

I think it was Michael Jackson; I was like 3 or 4 years old in Ethiopia watching his music videos on TV just in awe with his music and dancing.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I had a couple with some friends but it was never serious and often lasted a few weeks haha

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

I always try to find new sounds that can spark something in me and I just try to look around my surroundings and understand my emotions to somehow then put them into words and songs.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

That’s a hard question…I have a few in mind but let’s go with Superstition by Steve Wonder for now because it’s always a fun song to listen to.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

I went to a concert in November last year and it was incredible so I would go back to that night.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Doja Cat, Lizzo, and BTS would be a dream.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Doja Cat would be amazing, I think our sound can work well together.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Still doing music and hopefully I’ll be a little more successful at it!
