What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

Honestly, I fell in love with genres and individual songs when I was younger – I was always listening to female-fronted acts like Paramore, but I also loved all the top pop songs from 2008-2012… that was basically when I started to develop my own music taste anyways, so I dove headfirst into singer/songwriter stuff. Now, I love Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile… but really any singer/songwriter or artist who tells personal stories.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I’ve never formed a band, but I played in orchestras growing up and was in a cappella groups! I’m in one, Notes and Keys, at Columbia right now.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

Honestly, just feeling my own emotions and trying to put words to them. Recently I’ve been focusing on what I want my music to say, what message I want to put out into the world. Right now, it’s that life can be really beautiful. Cheesy but true!

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

All my ghosts by Lizzy Mcalpine. It’s so good!! Or Feels Like by Gracie Abrams.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

Any time somebody comes up to me after a concert and tells me that my music means something to them! It makes me so, so grateful.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Taylor Swift – I’m such a swiftie. It really would be so insane, a girl can dream!

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Lately I’ve been hoping to collaborate with more NYC- and LA- based songwriters, even just to do writing sessions. I love exploring genres I wouldn’t necessarily sing myself, like pure bubblegum pop or country, and songwriting lets me dip my toes into that!

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

I really hope I’ll be living in a big city and have a dog! The dream would be to be healthy, with my best friends and hopefully having met some new ones along the way; I want to be surrounded by music every day, but I’m trying to just trust the path of my life and not try to define what exactly that will mean. And I still want to try to appreciate every moment.
