After sharing a broad and vibrant array of offerings this last year, New York-based artist Emmrose is back with her latest bright and joyous release 'Waitlisted'.
Bringing together a mix of bold and bouncing pop aesthetics with a distinctly loveable disco flair, 'Waitlisted' sees her unveil more of her fun-loving side. Despite its more sombre message about rejection, she is finding the upside of her situation and choosing to shake off her demons in style.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with her to find out more about her background and what has inspired her recently.

What was the first instrument you learned to play?
I’ve been singing forever- but I really studied the piano before I took any voice lessons. Piano lessons and I just never fully clicked- I was far too into writing my own piano music than reading pieces already written.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Honestly- I don’t think i’ve ever owned a full album before. I pretty much just stream everything. My dad has a extensive record collection- so he already has anything I would want to buy. Maybe in 2013 I downloaded a couple songs on my iPod. I was 9 then- so it was probably Katy Perry music haha.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
Well... this! I first started performing when I was 12, and well, here it is!
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
I feel like a lot of Lana Del Rey’s music is my style. I could see myself writing Video Games- or at least a song similar to it.
What has been the most thrilling moment about creating your own music?
Releasing music is pretty wild. I just get so nervous if people will like what I write- my voice- the production- everything!
And what about the most frustrating part?
Definitely getting stuck working in the studio. I hate starting over and scrapping what i’ve worked on. Sometimes the production just doesn’t work with the song, ya know?
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
I’d love to perform with artists like Clairo. I think she and I have a similar vibe- and I really respect her. How fun would that be!
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
I’ll be graduating college, which is wild. Who knows what I’ll be doing then! I feel like there’s a lot of change in your life as you go from living with your parents to being on your own.
