GET TO KNOW: Dani Grace

After establishing themselves with a wealth of warm and immersive gems these last few years, Asheville-based artist Dani Grace is now looking to cement their legacy to date with the release of their eagerly-awaited debut EP 'One Version Of Me'.

Channelling a beautifully rich and passionate aesthetic from start to finish, this new three-track collection makes for a wonderfully warm listen. With their sprawling vocals layered across a vibrant alt-pop-inspired production throughout, they are quickly marking themselves as one of the more inventive names on the rise right now.

So with the new EP available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

The first band I ever fell in love with was OneRepublic in high school. I listened to all their songs so much I’ve got them ingrained in my mind now.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I’ve never formed a band. I used to be in choir when I was younger, and I was also in an a capella group for a couple years in high school.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

My primary inspiration for my music comes from within myself. My life experiences and emotions are a very big influence, especially my experiences with chronic illness and anxiety. Outside of this, my other inspiration for my writing is to create lyrics that mesmerize listeners and allow them to escape the daily hustle of life for a few minutes.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

Honestly there’s not a song that comes to my mind I wish I had written myself. I think songs are a reflection from within somebody, so those experiences are based on their own perception of life.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

Recording Closer has been a part of my career I hold close to my heart.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Either Jessie Murph or Grey Zeigler. I love both of them so much as artists and would love the opportunity to perform with them.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Illenium. The way he creates his music is immaculate, and collaborating with him is definitely a goal for me.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Where I’d like to see myself five years from now is touring the US in my converted school bus connecting with people through music.
