GET TO KNOW: Confz

Having already established himself with a wealth of vibrant offerings these last few years, British rapper Confz is back on the grind once again as he delivers his pulsing new single 'Lying To Myself'.

Teaming up with Nix Northwest for the release and lifted from his newly unveiled studio album 'Lost Diaspora', which is available to stream now, 'Lying To Myself' makes for an incredibly rich and enticing listen. With the duo's driven flows layered across an immersive production throughout, he continues to cement himself as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

It had to be Lauryn Hill, and it wasn’t by choice… My mum rinsed The Fugees and Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album throughout my childhood.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

It was a rap group called 4WRD and that’s basically what guided me in the direction of rap if I’m being honest. We were just young black boys from a block doing grime and rap. We all had different styles for how young we were. I'd say we were sick. We were like 14/15 at the time.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

My boy had a studio in his house and he made a song that I thought was cold, when I realised he made it in his house that inspired me to write something then go and record. Life was much more simple back then…

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

There’s a lot man, but right now I’ll say Kendrick Lamar - Sing About Me.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

The moment I’m currently in, this is the most fun it’s been.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

J Cole

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

I can’t pick one. So… J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Ghetts and Little Simz
