After impressing so many with their sweet and vibrant indie-rock offerings of late, Vancouver-based outfit Coastal Town are back at it once again as they deliver the sweeping new single 'The A Plus'.
Described as the "nerd rock anthem that nobody asked for", 'The A Plus' sees them return in fine form. Jam-packed with breezy tones, soaring aesthetics, and some wonderfully charming vocals, this lot look set to break out of their hometown and take the world by storm!
So with the new single available now, we sat down with them to find out more about their background and influences over the years.

What was the first instrument you learned to play?
I think almost everyone in the band started with either guitar or ukulele! Except maybe Charlie, the lone rebel on the piano!
What was the first album you remember owning?
It’s an album called Betti Cola by Cub. They’re a three person all female punk band from Vancouver.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
The original version of this group was formed 10 years ago as a Ska band! There’s a really old recording somewhere of a very rough Summer Sundays demo. I think that was the only song from those days that’s survived though.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Sinnerman by Nina Simone! That song is so brilliant, it shows the incredible understanding of music that Nina Simone had. If we could write something even close to that, it would mean our songwriting would have really grown!
What has been the most thrilling moment about creating your own music?
Seeing our music going out to people beyond our little bubble is so cool! Even if it’s just a few more people each day, it’s so amazing to think that new people are discovering us!
And what about the most frustrating part?
Getting the final mixes right took a long time! Actually, our latest release The A Plus took the longest. I think we went back and forth at least 6 times on the final mix / master before we got something that we were all happy with.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
There’s a band from the UK called Revivalry! They are really talented and have members still in high school, just like us! It would be fun, and I’m sure we could learn a lot from each other. Also, if we were sharing a stage with them that would mean we were in the UK, which would be so fun!
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Still making music! If we can stick it out for five years that would be incredible! We haven’t finished releasing our first album yet, and we’re already about to start production on album two. I hope we will all still be hustling on this in five years!
