With its fresh and kinetic textures, soaring atmosphere, and killer hooks layered throughout, this one will have you up and out of your seat in no time.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and influences over the years.
What was the first artist or band you fell in love with?
Definitely blink-182. Both of us grew up in a house where their older brother was blasting Dude Ranch daily, so it became stitched into our lives from an early age.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger? What did they sound like?
Both of us have been playing music together for as long as we can remember. Our first “Band” was us recording music through a crappy microphone that came with the original Rock Band game that we plugged into the computer. Still we started writing and recording songs at a very young age.. That band's name was “Boiling Turkey” - i know…. Not the best name.. We were children! Then we went on to change our name a million and a half times, eventually adding third to the mix, where we called ourselves No Use Waiting. Once the third moved on, we decided on investing in ourselves as a duo instead, and sticking with our first names. All of our bands were heavily rooted in Pop-Punk sound.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
We really love the art of it. Being able to SAY one thing, but really be saying another thing was always interesting to me. I love how just one song can tell so many stories depending on how it is interpreted by the listener. You can really hear this shining through in our song Bloodshot Eyes, which at the tip of the iceberg sounds like a song about a girl, but it’s actually about a dark dependency on marijuana. Another example Know Your Name, which at the surface again sounds like another song about a girl, but deeper down it’s about inner conflict with oneself.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
She’s A God by Neck Deep. I really can hear some brian&matt in that song, and overall is a super cool song that has super interesting lyrics.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
First time we played in Newport. We were setting up for our gig, and noticed it was a bit of a slow day so far at the venue. We started to get in our heads a little bit, that maybe it wasn't going to be as big of a show as we hoped. About an hour before the show we went for a walk around Newport to calm our nerves a bit. When we ever turned back around the corner after our walk and saw a line around the building of people waiting to get in, we got so excited. A feeling that is impossible to explain, but we were ready to go jam. Getting up on stage and having a completely filled room singing with us was an unreal feeling, a feeling that we will forever chase.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
There are a lot! Blink-182… obviously… but also Neck Deep, Set It Off, Panic! At The Disco, All Time Low.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
Yes. Mark Hoppus please come sing a verse ;)
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
With a more stable audience group and monthly listeners, and an album release that knocks your socks off.
