After cementing himself on the scene with a wave of rich and immersive efforts these last few years, London-based artist Adreyn Cash ends his two-year break from new material with the sultry new groove 'Like I Was Here'.

Bringing back more of that rich and emotive aesthetic he has earned a reputation for, 'Like I Was Here' makes for a beautifully tender listen throughout. With his sweeping vocal performance layered across a compelling production from beginning to end, he is returning with style and aplomb here.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

Michael Jackson - I remember when I heard/watched thriller for the first time. I was absolutely obsessed and wanted to sing like that. Til this day I strive to be 10% of the vocalist he was, the mastery of his gift is something I admire.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I have never been a band type of artist, I've always known that I was meant to be a solo artist. If I did though, we would definitely sound like Destiny's Child.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

Human emotions. I've always been very honest within my music and writing about where I am emotionally. I think as human beings we have such layered experiences, I always wanted to be an artist that gave a voice to those hidden emotions. The ones we feel when we're alone.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

Fantasia Barrino - Believe ; that’s one song that comes straight to mind. It’s a song that’s inspired me at many junctures in my life. Beautifully written.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

The first time I saw myself on a billboard. I went to see it with my mother. It was so big, I think I saw myself and my artistry in the physical for the first time.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

I have a few, but definitely Miguel and Bruno Mars. My dream team, I think our music and voices would make a stage light up like a firework.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Bruno Mars definitely, I admire his songwriting and his vocal style. I think it would be extremely fun to create music with him.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

I see myself touring, and charting. I see my music making waves all across the world. I believe I have the ability to touch so many people and make an impact on the industry.
