One of Angry Joe’s earliest compositions has finally found its finished form.
The Houston musician and his band, Angry Joe and the Holy Socks, have released 'In Real Life', a song that began several years ago but was left incomplete until its original guitar line prompted a recent return to the material.
The finished recording examines the experience of facing multiple failures and wondering whether life is progressing at all. Its outlook, however, is not entirely downbeat. The lyrics gradually move towards the idea that an uncertain future may still contain opportunities that cannot yet be seen.
That emotional development is reflected in the arrangement. Chiming guitars and acoustic elements give way to a fuller rock backdrop, creating a sound that is melodic without losing its rougher edges.
'In Real Life' follows 'I’ll Run Away' and the band’s sophomore album, 'It’s All Pretend'. The group are also continuing their Houston live activity, including regular shows at Trilogy Brew.
