evolution 9 - 'Sweet Number One'

evolution 9 have returned with a new track that draws heavily on the melodic guitar music that first inspired songwriter Dave Follweiler.

“Sweet Number One” combines jangling instrumentation, vocal harmonies and an upbeat arrangement with lyrics centred on romantic jealousy and the lingering memory of a former partner.

The song’s influences include The Beatles, The Byrds, Cheap Trick and Raspberries, while its origins date back around four decades. Follweiler first developed the composition during the 1980s but never released it at the time.

The latest version features contributions from Gene Cullison, Hub Willson and Jon Lamson, with production completed at Crystal Pig Recording Studio.
