Los Angeles duo KWONIX arrive with 'DEVIATE', an adventurous new EP that showcases the remarkable chemistry between collaborators Kwo and Unïx, whose partnership began with a long-distance studio session and quickly evolved into something much bigger.
Moving effortlessly between jazz, soul, disco, alternative R&B and experimental pop, the project refuses to settle in one place for long. Opening track 'Wading' eases listeners in with smoky grooves and understated atmosphere before 'So Obvyus' shifts gears into shimmering dancefloor territory. Elsewhere, 'Everything I Need' and 'IKNOWYULUHME' reveal the duo's willingness to explore contrasting moods and arrangements, while closer 'FULL SPEED' brings the journey to an expansive and uplifting conclusion.
The songs were written during a turbulent period for the pair, with the creative process becoming both refuge and release. That emotional honesty sits at the centre of the record, giving its genre-hopping tendencies a strong sense of purpose.
Combining sophisticated musicianship with rich vocal interplay, 'DEVIATE' introduces KWONIX as a duo determined to follow inspiration wherever it leads.
