After a dazzling array of releases these last few years, fast-rising outfit Larusta & The Dead Dogs continue their upward ascent with the immersive new single 'The Life You Save May Be Your Own'.
Adopting more of that alluring direction they have honed for themselves, 'The Life You Save May Be Your Own' makes for a captivating return for them.
So with the new track available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and influences over the years.
What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
Nirvana.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
Back then, I formed a band at school with friends. We mostly played very typical covers and a few originals. The originals were kind of punk-ish, influenced by The Clash.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
My primary inspiration in writing music is most of the time my personal experience, combined with often fantastical ideas appearing in my mind when I write songs. For me there is no difference between the "real" and the "imagined" world when it comes to art in any kind of form. These ideas can be influenced by a book I read, for example by my favourite authors Flannery O'Connor or Franz Kafka.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Martha by Tom Waits (“Operator, number please, it's been so many years, ...")
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
It is only just really beginning and I’m sure the best part is waiting to unfold itself at some point in the future.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
It is impossible to choose just one: PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, St. Vincent, Florence Welch, Suzanne Vega, Bob Dylan
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
The same ones: PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, St Vincent, Florence Welch, Suzanne Vega, Bob Dylan
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Playing a show at the Royal Albert Hall.
