What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

I think the first artist I ever fell in love with was TobyMac. Particularly because of his Diverse City album he dropped back in 2004. My brother and I would fall asleep to that album almost every night when we were kids. Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I tried to form a band. Back in junior high, me and a couple friends from my school met together one day at one of their houses. We all chose an instrument and got to work. Twenty One Pilots was a big inspiration for us back then, and that was what we were going for in terms of the sound, but we were really bad. What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

My inspiration has definitely changed through the years. Before I wanted to do music solely for selfish reasons, to prove something to everyone who wrote me off. But now my inspiration is helping other people. I believe there’s a profound healing aspect to certain sounds, one that this world might not be fully aware of yet. My inspiration is to heal through the sound and show people the power behind what they put in their ears. What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

“Collateral Damage” by Burna Boy. All day.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

It would probably be the first time I ever stepped into a studio. I recorded my first song that I ever put out called “Freestyle.” I recorded the song in one hour. I was really nervous, but the end product was super hard and had people in the studio really feeling it. That’s when I realized the potential effect that I could have through the music. However, if I were to relive that moment, I would definitely change some of the lyrics to that song lol.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

I would most love to share a stage with Maverick City Music. The energy that they have when worshiping God is unmatched. And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

I would love to collaborate with Kanye West. I just know we would make something beautiful.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

I see myself truly walking in my purpose, spreading the love of God through music on stages, interviews, TV, whatever platform He gives me. I see myself making the best music I have ever made, being recognized, and completely rewriting the narrative on Christian music.
