What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

The first artists I fell in love with were probably Billy Joel and Simon & Garfunkel. My family never really listened to a lot of newer music, so I was always surrounded by older, classic songs and it really cultivated my love for that style.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

No, I never did form a band, but I had definitely talked about it on many occasions. I really wish I had, I feel like it would’ve been such a fun and lasting opportunity.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

My primary inspiration in writing music is just the need to share my true self. I feel a pull to tell a story or paint a picture of the thoughts inside my head and I do it through music. I sit down and let my mind soar with chords and melodies and the perfect structure. It all comes together as if it was always there in my mind just waiting to burst out. It’s truly fascinating. My dad is also my biggest inspiration. He is constantly supporting me and reminding me that I have something that the world needs to hear.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

A song I wish I had written myself would probably be Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. I had never heard that song until I heard it in the incredible movie Coda. It really captivated me and I sing it in the car all the time now. The lyrics are so perfect. I’m so jealous of that kind of lyrical depth.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

If there was any moment in my career I could re-live, it would have to be when I released my debut album. It was just such an ethereal feeling and such a proud moment that I would love to feel again. The feeling of finally having my first album available for the world to hear after almost a year of hard work was unforgettable.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

This may sound cliche, but I would love to share a stage with Billy Joel. He’s just one of the greatest songwriters of all time and he has left such a legacy. All of his songs are hits and I would be ecstatic to be able to share music with him.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

I would absolutely LOVE to collaborate with Laufey. She’s probably my favorite artist right now and I feel like we have a pretty similar sound. I love her style and the sound of her voice is so enchanting. I feel like we could make something really special if we collaborated.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

My dream is to write music for movies, musicals, and famous artists, so hopefully maybe that’s where I am in five years. I see myself being the songwriter and writing music for famous singers and hearing my songs.
