Former professional hockey player Rob Bellamy has returned with a full-length country-rock release that places New England at the centre of its storytelling.
Written during a particularly severe winter, “Cold Country” grew from the idea that country music does not need to come from a specific part of the United States to feel genuine. The track celebrates northern communities shaped by physical work, difficult weather and strong local connections.
That outlook continues throughout 'Northern State of Mind', which combines acoustic songwriting with larger rock arrangements and Americana influences.
Bellamy first began learning guitar while still playing professional hockey, later choosing to pursue music full-time. His experiences in sport, marriage and fatherhood now inform a body of work focused on perseverance and responsibility.
