The New Citizen Kane returns with 'LIQUID. LATEX. DISCO. DADDY.', a bold new instalment that shifts the project’s focus from sunlit escapism into the deeper, more immersive pull of the underground. Where its predecessor leaned into warmth and light, this latest release thrives in the tension and atmosphere of after-hours spaces, drawing on the textures of deep house, the spirit of 90s club culture, and the physicality of late-night dancefloors.
Rather than functioning as a straightforward remix collection, the album reworks existing material into something more unified and intentional. Tracks are reshaped from the ground up, allowing grooves to settle into a slower, more hypnotic rhythm while vocals drift between closeness and distance. The result is a record of familiar ideas presented through a darker, more tactile lens.
A key thread throughout the project is Kane’s long-standing collaboration with Red Man Runs (Ronan Kirkpatrick). Their shared history, dating back to early production studies in Dublin, informs the album’s sense of cohesion. That connection is evident from the opening track 'What's His Name?', where his vocal contribution sets a tone that is both understated and quietly compelling.
New material is woven seamlessly into the project, expanding its scope without disrupting its flow. The lead single '(Trip) Unravelling' stands out as a central moment, reflecting on nightlife as both a place of escape and confrontation. Elsewhere, 'Forget The Trend', created alongside Brazilian DJ DJ DUTY, introduces a broader, international perspective, shaped in part by the artist's recent time abroad.
One of the more unexpected elements arrives in the form of a reinterpretation of 'There Goes the Neighborhood' by Sheryl Crow. The track is transformed into something more abstract and disorienting, aligning with the album’s overall aesthetic while offering a distinct point of contrast.
Across its full runtime, 'LIQUID. LATEX. DISCO. DADDY. 'maintains a careful balance between control and looseness. Its production is detailed yet never overworked, allowing space for rhythm and texture to carry the emotional weight. Additional remixes from MK:SNDRS and LUV Foundation (UK) further extend the project’s palette, offering alternate perspectives without straying from its core identity.
With this new collection, The New Citizen Kane moves deeper into a space where sound, atmosphere, and identity intersect; offering an environment that feels defined more by mood and experience than anything else.
