East Yorkshire’s newest indie-rock outfit Strange Pink make a bold entrance with debut single 'Pencil Chewer'. Fusing infectious indie-pop with a gritty undercurrent of slacker rock, the track sets the tone for their upcoming debut EP 'Out Of Focus', dropping this August.

Recorded at Young Thugs Studio in York and produced by Nick ‘The Muscle’ Russell (Bedsit, The Black Ravines), the track also benefits from mastering by Ed Woods (The Who, Idlewild). Lyrically inspired by the manipulative character Aaron from Titus Andronicus and subliminal nods to the suffering of St. Agatha of Sicily, it’s a powerful reflection on oppression and cruelty wrapped in psychedelic guitar lines and anthemic energy.

The band—Sam Forrest (Nine Black Alps), Edward Alan Logie, and Dom Smith—draw on shared influences like Sonic Youth and Built To Spill, while channelling their own lived experiences, including Smith’s powerful perspective as a drummer with cerebral palsy.
