Reetoxa - 'Dancing With Lou'

Melbourne rock project Reetoxa looks back on a formative teenage discovery with new single ‘Dancing With Lou’, taken from second album 'Soliloquy'.
Led by songwriter and vocalist Jason McKee, the track recalls being introduced to Lou Reed’s solo catalogue at 15, when a friend’s father played him 'The Blue Mask'. Already familiar with The Velvet Underground, he found Reed’s uncompromising approach to songwriting revelatory, encouraging him to explore subjects freely rather than placing boundaries around his lyrics.
That influence feeds directly into ‘Dancing With Lou’, which pairs rough-edged rock ’n’ roll with a groove built to get bodies moving. Recorded at The Avenue in Cheltenham, the track features an impressive Australian lineup, including JET drummer Peter Marin, guitarist James Ryan and bassist Kit Riley, with Simon Moro overseeing the final mix and master.
With a third album already underway and discussions surrounding UK and European dates, ‘Dancing With Lou’ finds Reetoxa celebrating the music that helped set Jason McKee on his own creative path.
