Michigan-based duo Powers of the Monk return with their latest release 'Sleepy Fields', a dreamlike track that blurs the lines between waking and dreaming. Built on soft textures, swelling melodies, and poetic lyricism, the single captures a rare stillness where every note feels like a step deeper into peace.
Formed by David s. Monk and CasSondra “Pontiac” Powers, the group re-emerged in 2020 and have since crafted an atmospheric sound that draws from alt-folk, ambient rock, and psych-tinged indie. On 'Sleepy Fields', the band is joined by guest drummer John O’Reilly Jr., with production by the band, mixing from LA-based Bryan Cook, and mastering by Brian Calhoun in Nashville.
The track’s glowing, immersive production and gentle instrumental layers reflect the serenity of the track’s namesake, where poppies sway and sleep arrives as solace. A luminous offering from the Pontiac-Detroit-Ann Arbor group, 'Sleepy Fields”' invites us to breathe slower, listen deeper, and drift into its world.
