Matt Maltese has unveiled 'Buses Replace Trains', the latest single from his forthcoming album 'Hers', arriving Friday 16th May via The Orchard. A swooning, string-laden ballad full of wistful charm, the track showcases Maltese’s signature ability to find poetry in the mundane, blending gentle humour with heartache in equal measure.

The song takes its curious title from a conversation Maltese had with a friend, whose Welsh uncle once suggested “Buses Replace Trains” as a band name. What began as a lighthearted anecdote transformed into something more evocative, striking Maltese as the perfect vehicle for a love song grounded in the everyday. “There was something touching about the phrase out of context,” he explains. “It triggered of course the nostalgia of rail replacement buses in Reading growing up, but I also just couldn’t shake that it was a title for a love song. So plain and ordinary and quotidian.”

'Buses Replace Trains' follows previous singles 'Always Some MF', 'Anytime, Anyplace, Anyhow' and 'Pined For You My Whole Life', offering further glimpses into the deeply personal world of 'Hers'. With this new body of work, Maltese continues to evolve his sound with a sense of maturity and reflection, crafting tender narratives that feel both universal and intimately his own.
