Over these last few years, London-based singer-songwriter James Keen has been exploring a rich and alluring aesthetic in which to call his own. Turning out a new piece of material every few months, his recent repertoire has earned him a solid reputation for compelling songwriting, building upon his dynamic foundations at every turn. And after another heady run of efforts under his belt recently, he is now cementing this new era with his eagerly-awaited solo LP 'Crossover'.
Described as a "truly solo" release, entirely written, recorded, performed, produced and mixed by the artist himself, 'Crossover' instantly cements itself as a fresh and wondrous return for him. Occasionally branching out of his comfort zone to develop a distinctive direction in which to take his sound, this new collection finds him in beautifully renewed spirits as he makes light work of its warm and inviting textures from beginning to end.
He has certainly made quite the impression on the new music scene this past year, but 'Crossover' proves he has been brimming with plenty of rich and tantilising ideas in which to pursue. Oozing with such innovation as it plays, James Keen remains one of the more endearing artists on the rise right now.
