GET TO KNOW: X Revolution

After spending the last few months building and cultivating his sound, Australian artist X Revolution now looks to introduce himself to the wider world with his immersive debut single 'New Dawn'.

Channelling a wonderfully rich and dynamic aesthetic for his initial offering, 'New Dawn' makes for an incredibly warm and inviting introduction to his sound so far. Brimming with broad and enigmatic textures at every turn, he is certainly looking to kick things off with a brilliantly absorbing opening number here.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

This one ain't an easy question to answer, as I was introduced to both worlds of Electronic music and Hip - Hop at a young age. My go to's would be Vengaboys and Eminem, they were both artists I loved when I first heard them.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

Back in year 12, my final year of highschool, I attended a music college every Wednesday to graduate since I needed the extra credits. It was there out of the curriculum to form a band. I forgot the name of it, but I played guitar and bass. Was interesting at the time.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

To be innovative and add something different within the bounds of simplicity.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

"Strangers" by Danger Mouse, Black Thought, A$AP ROCKY & Run The Jewels. It has such a mad beat and bass line. I vibe with it very hard.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

Right now, I have to create those moments in my upcoming career, if anything. I am an upcoming artist, so there is lots of work ahead of me before I can say which moments I would like to relive.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Action Bronson, I know I would have lots of fun performing on stage with him.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

El-P, I love the production he does behind 'Run The Jewels' alongside his own music and rapping. Really awesome sound selections.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Continuing to write music about what is going on around us and raising a family (I do like kids so.......that would be a massive bonus).
