Having already cemented himself with a wealth of shimmering delights these last few years, German artist Tobasco is back on the grind once again with his vibrant new single 'A Friend'.
Honing more of that bold and captiavting electronic aesthetic he has been cultivating lately, 'A Friend' continues that immersive direction he has been pursuing since he first emerged. With its sweeping textures and breezy hooks layered throughout, he continues his ascent as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most recently.
What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
Michael Jackson
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
I never had a band, but together with a good friend we were producing a lot in the basement, using the old fasttracker and madtracker programs. The style was mostly a mixture of techno and happy hardcore.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
Trying to find a deeper understanding of myself and the world and going around with open eyes has always been my main inspiration.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Last Christmas
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
I would like to relive the moment when I am in the studio and it turns out that the song I am working on is developing well. This is always a good feeling.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
Lana Del Rey
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
Also Lana Del Rey
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In the studio, hopefully with lots of ideas on my mind.
