What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
I can’t really remember who was the first, but there were a handful I loved listening to. I always loved the MTV Unplugged concerts and discovered so many fantastic artists thanks to this format when I was younger. My favorites were the concerts of Alanis Morissette and The Corrs.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
No, I’ve always been a solo artist.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
When I was a child, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents. They played several folk instruments and sang a lot and I always loved these moments, when time doesn’t seem to exist and they just do what they love, being present in the moment. I started to write my own songs when I was 13 years old. A song might have been a poem at first or a thought that came to my mind. There is a lot of movement in the world and I always try to focus on one thing, instead of many. Writing music always helped me to set a focus and capture moments of experiences.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
'The Stable Song' by Gregory Alan Isakov. There are just a handful of songs which really touched me deep in my heart, when I heard them for the first time. Listening to this song is like reading your favorite book again and again. You can always discover a new meaning behind the words, depending where you’re standing in you life right now.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
The moment when I played one of my own songs on stage for the first time. I’ve won a local band contest and the first prize was a gig at one of Germany’s biggest open-air festivals. Especially right now I miss those times and can’t wait to play live again in the future.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
If I have to choose one, it would be Roo Panes. I discovered Roo’s music a couple of years ago and loved every single song he has released since then. Not only do I love his style of writing, I also love the live arrangements, when he performs together with his bandmates.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
Roo Panes as well, for the mentioned reasons.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Artistically, hopefully playing live again regularly, having recorded at least one full-length album and helping other independent artists producing their music. Privately, still living with my family in the house next to the woods, healthy, with a lot of time to spend together.
