After spending the last few years delivering wealth of warm and alluring soul-inspired gems, fast-rising artist Shaila Prospere returns once again to offer up her sweeping new single 'Faith'.
Channelling more of that rich and textured direction she is known for, 'Faith' makes for a wonderfully vibrant return. With her sweet and passionate voice layered across a tender production from start to finish, she is continuing her pursuit of broad and lovelorn aesthetics with this one.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with her to find out more about her background and influences over the years.
What/who was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
Yes I was lead singer and we were called Offspring till we realised there was a huge Rock band with that name!! We were really good.. we gorged all over the place there were 5 of us. Drums, Bass, Guitar, Keys & Vocals.. We started of doing reggae/lovers rock kinda feel then transitions to soul & R&B. We won a huge inter college singing competition & jazzy B wanted to sign me but I never got a call unless my mum intercepted it and out paid to that! Prob thought it was a grown man calling for her teenage daughter hahaha! Anyways I was sure he’d call!
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
I’m not sure, I just love music and seem to get songs in my head everyday! I get lyrics n melodies together and it’s usually about a situation I’m in or dream of being in or an experience one of my friends has shared.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
Oh so many… The Greatest Live of All! Love Avril Lavigne I’m with You, Barbara Streisand The way we were, Carpenters We’ve only just begun, George Benson Love Ballad, Alicia Keys If I Ain’t Got You, about 10 John Legend songs & most of Stevie Wonders! Arhhh I could go on and on

Stevie Wonder, Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, Usher, John Legend

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully winning Grammys, repping for the UK, Touring the world and opening the door for up and coming artists!
