Having already established himself with a wealth of dynamic delights these last few months, Calgary-based rapper Japhet is back to his best once again to deliver his pulsing new single 'Zack & Cody'.
Bringing back more of that smooth and emotive aesthetic he is known for, 'Zack & Cody' makes for a stellar return for him. With its rich and shimmering production elevating his killer flow throughout, he continues to shine as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.
What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
First artist I fell in love with was in high school I think it was lil tjay or polo g when they first started blowing up
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
I don’t think I ever formed a band but I collaborated a lot with two of the bros a lot
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
Just anything I go through or anyone around me has gone through I use it to tell a story.. it gives me content to talk about
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
I would say deep wounds by polo g it’s such a beautiful song from the production to the melody and lyrics
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
It would be getting a feature from one of my fav artists at the time Ysn Fab
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
I would definitely love to get on stage with polo g he’s been a huge inspiration to my sound and music
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
Same thing here it would definitely be polo g I think we would make something beautiful and memorable long term
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Hopefully touring with some platinum and gold singles/albums signed to a major
