Following on from a flurry of fresh and exciting offerings over the last few years, New York-based producer Icarus Moth recently returned to deliver his spellbinding new single 'Quicksand'.
Teaming up with Toronto-based singer SABRE for the release, 'Quicksand' makes for a wonderfully rich and vivid listen. With the frontwoman's bold and soaring voice riding a bed of rich and pulsing electronic grooves, this new one has all the hallmarks of a pair of inventive individuals at the helm.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with both of them to find out more about their origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
SABRE: Joss Stone!
Icarus Moth: No particular group stands out, I was all over the place with the music I listened to.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
SABRE: Nope. Always solo dolo. The closest I came to that was school choir and musical theatre.
Icarus Moth: Nah, other than my best friend I was a lone wolf when I was younger music-wise.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
SABRE: To capture my emotions and process them for deeper self-understanding in the context of the universe.
Icarus Moth: Music feels really good to listen to and I’m always trying to make things that help people experience it in the way that I do.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Icarus Moth: Danzon No. 2 by Arturo Márquez
SABRE: Baby Got Back - Sir Mix A Lot
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
SABRE: Red Bull Studio sessions with Anderson .Paak and his crew.
Icarus Moth: I don’t think I look at it that way, every moment I look back on fondly was a moment of discovering something new. You can’t discover something new twice.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
SABRE: It's a three-way tie between Erykah Badu, Joss Stone, and Jessie J.
Icarus Moth: I would love to get on stage with Vulfpeck + friends, they look like they’re having more fun than anyone else. I’d even rock the tambourine idc.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
Icarus Moth: I think it would be fun to make a track with Chloe x Halle, they both have such incredible voices and they definitely don’t seem afraid to try new things with their music.
SABRE: Matthew Progress; in Toronto and Paris.
Where do you see yourself in five years' time?
Icarus Moth: Hopefully by then I’ll have been able to put together the live set that I’ve been theory crafting (them things expensive) since the beginning of the pandemic and shows were halted. I’m in the lucky position to be able to wake up every day and create music so I always want to have new ways of sharing it with people.
SABRE: Walking with my daughter to her nature school after a world tour.
