After spending the last few years moving through phases of self-discovery and reinvention, California-based artist Christian Lee now introduces his latest projects Dayes Young and delivers his powerful new single 'Conflicted'.
Blending a mixture of hip-hop influences alongside his Southern Alabama roots, 'Conflicted' makes for a wonderfully warm and inviting listen. With his sultry voice layered amongst a bed of smooth and sweeping production, he certainly pulls on our heartstrings with this one.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
There definitely isn’t one specific band or artist so I’d have to say both Tupac Shakur and Jimi Hendrix
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
I did! Multiple actually but, the first was a reggae/hip hop group we had named Pangea. We used to play every week in our hometown when we were in high school and get it jumpin!
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
Well if art is a reflection of the times then I believe that saying also rings true for me and my music. Whatever it is I’m going through tends to be the subject matter of what it is I’ll write. Usually tipping between love and loss.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Lover You Should Have Come Over by Jeff Buckley. Not only is there immense emotionality but the imagery of his lyrics in that song to me doesn’t get much better.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
I’d say performing with my boy Yung Pinch at The Observatory in Santa Ana.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
Stevie Wonder. Blew me away the first time I saw him. He walked out to the edge of the stage by himself playing “Superstition” on a keytar then turned and walked to his keyboard at center stage.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
Very hard to name one but if I had to choose I would say Ms. Lauryn Hill.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Hopefully on headlining tours and collaborating with the artists listed above! But honestly I’d be grateful if I was still recording in my living room with a roof over my head making a living for myself and my family cause that’s all I can really ask for.
