After spending the last few years delighting us with a flurry of rich and enigmatic pop-rock grooves, London-based singer and songwriter Colourshop has now returned to deliver his sweeping new effort 'Northern Lights'.
Channelling a wonderfully warm and breezy direction from start to finish, 'Northern Lights' makes for a brilliantly sweet and uplifting listen. Filled with luxurious tones and his own calming voice throughout, this is definitely one we would find ourselves coming back to again and again.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
Our mom used to put vinyls of 60s and 70s bands such like The Beatles, Neil Young or Deep Purple. We grew up with that. I would say The Beatles were my favourite artists.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
The first band I played was with my brother and a few other friends. We were playing Californication, Guns and Roses, some Italian pop-rock bands. It was actually a lot of fun!!
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
The world around me, my experiences in life: travel, love, reflections about the events that changed me.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
I am a big fan of John Mayer, but Harvest Moon from Neil Young is incredible. That song can really transport you to a different world! So simple but at the same time so deep and touching. Definitely a song that I never grow tired of.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
Moscow 2013. We played in a nice, cosy, intimate club in the centre of the city. The club was full of attentive listeners that really appreciated my music, they knew most of the songs. The host gave us backstage room with food, drinks and even a towel after the concert to wipe off the sweat! I really felt like a star that night, it was magical.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
John Mayer for sure, he inspired me on many levels: from my songwriting, to my guitar playing and I appreciate his courage in changing his music style, something that nowadays not many artists dare to do. Also his concerts are fun because there is some space left for improvisation. Another great artist I admire much is Paolo Nutini. I have seen him live and his way of performing on stage is absolutely great.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
John Mayer as first choice, second Damien Rice, third I would say Jason Mraz
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Replying to these very same questions on the backstage of a concert I am about to play in front of 5,10,20 thousands fans that would sing all my songs with me. That would be so amazing !
