Dutch singer-songwriter Freddie Winchester (aka Francesco Frentrop) makes a bold genre leap with his tongue-in-cheek new single 'Back On My Feet Again'. What began as a blues number during a Cyprus writing retreat evolved into a fully-fledged country anthem with a global twist.
The track pairs Nashville polish with Dutch roots, featuring contributions from acclaimed guitarist JL Fulks, John Fogerty’s own Dan Hochhalter on fiddle and banjo, and even backing vocals recorded in Nigeria. Winchester’s teenage son lends guitar work alongside former rock bandmates, creating a playful yet heartfelt sound that transcends borders.
Built around an earworm chorus and lyrics laced with sly humour, the song has already proven a hit at live showcases. Recorded between Nashville and rural Netherlands, it’s a surprising debut for a fictional cowboy persona with real charm.
With plans to expand into live performances and more original material, Freddie Winchester may have stumbled into country music by accident, but he’s definitely riding it with style.
