After the release of their highly-praised 2018 LP 'Thank You For Today', Death Cab For Cutie have now announced their plans for their new studio album 'Asphalt Meadows', which is set to be released on the 16th September via Atlantic Records.
The new full-length will become their tenth record to date, and is being previewed by the new lead single 'Roman Candles'.
Speaking about the new offering, the band said, “‘Roman Candles’ is about the crippling, existential dread that goes hand in hand with living in a nervous city on a dying planet. And that the only way to be in the moment is to let it all go.”
While frontman Ben Gibbard added, “The lyrics were cobbled from a couple of different songs dealing with my general sense of anxiety; the feeling that the fabric that weaves a functioning society together was crumbling during the pandemic.”
