Bonneville return to their funk roots with infectious new single ‘On the One’

Retro-soul outfit Bonneville continue the rollout of their forthcoming third album 'Hold for Room Tone', with the release of ‘On the One’, a groove-filled single that captures the band's deep appreciation for classic funk while adding a fresh chapter to their evolving sound.

Built around an irresistible rhythm, vibrant brass arrangements and soulful vocals, ‘On the One’ is inspired by new beginnings and finding balance through life's changing seasons. For vocalist Wes McGee, the song was shaped by the anticipation of becoming a father, turning a deeply personal milestone into an uplifting anthem about embracing the future with optimism.

The track also features an extraordinary collaboration with legendary drummer Bernard Purdie, whose unmistakable feel helped transform the song in the studio. Recorded at the iconic FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals and produced by Starita, the session brought together an exceptional group of musicians, allowing the song's infectious pocket and vintage soul influences to shine naturally.
